"The student and I worked hard at reviewing multiplication tables (I gave her three worksheets, covering multiples of 9, 8 and 7) and she clearly understood them (and, quickly at that! She completed 30 problems in right around a minute). Additionally, we learned how to multiply two double digit numbers together, as well as two triple digit numbers together, by hand (as well as variations of this). She clearly showed mastery of this topic. As always, working with her was productive. I look forward to working with her again soon!"
"The student wanted the crash course in sequences and series for his upcoming exam on the topic. We began with basic theory, then went into squeeze theorem, comparison theorem, and L'Hopital's rule applied to these concepts. Introduced the p-series and finding geometric sums. Ran some problems concerning convergence, divergence, and monotonicity."
"The student and I went over her math test. We worked on subtraction using concrete, representation, and abstract ways of solving the equation. She understands how to subtract well. We worked on scaffolding word problems step-by-step."
"We covered the various trigonometric functions. She understands the main concepts of trigonometric functions. The session went well."
"Today we worked on geometric sequences, exponential functions, and simplifying radical expressions. The student did well with identifying an exponential function from a graph or from a table using the common ratios. We also went over applications of exponential functions - half life, compound & simple interest, exponential growth and decay. She seemed to catch on pretty quickly. She is very good at following directions and using formulas after she learns about them ."
"We covered systems of equations and how to find the x,y coordinate of where two lines intersect. The student had a good understanding of the material. After going over his math homework, we went over his science lab. The lab introduced the concept of energy, touching on the various types of energy and how to find them. He did a good job working on the science lab. He said he found the session very useful. I do not have any concerns from this session."
"Went over central limit theorem and normal sampling distribution. The student had little trouble dealing with calculations, but was more concerned with the definitions involved in the unit. We did a variety of chapter questions to enforce the material and ensure his confidence. He has a quiz on Wednesday."
"We went through his exam review. It was about fractions and polynomials. I explained and reviewed with him how to solve them. He understood and he was solving the questions by himself. He solved 26 questions. He is smart and doing great."
"Student 1 - Reviewed compound inequalities and practiced quiz questions.
Student 2 - Reviewed Cell biology."
Student 2 - Reviewed Cell biology."
"This session with the student went swimmingly. This session we covered exponents and square roots. He seemed to grasp the concepts I was giving to him, and was able to follow the logic behind the different exponent laws."
"Because we had covered the new material about systems of equations yesterday, the student and I devoted the entirety of this session to reviewing for his test on inequalities tomorrow. I began by flipping through the sections of this chapter, giving brief comments on the strategies we had learned in each section. After this, we went through the chapter review. Because we had plenty of time, we were especially thorough, and went through each question. He has a strong understanding of these concepts."
"The student and I reviewed questions for homework covering rate of change, calculating slope from given points, and writing linear equations. He seemed to do pretty well."
