Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through a final-test review packet. We began with the trigonometry section. I asked him what SOHCAHTOA meant and how to use it. I found that he had SIN, COS and TAN incorrectly noted. Once we straightened out that SIN = Opp/Hyp, COS = Adj/Hyp, and TAN = Opp/Adj, he said many things began to make more sense. He did a good job utilizing reference angles and one side to find a missing side, and he was able to apply the main trigonometric functions appropriately. He was also able to solve for particular angles by utilizing inverse trig functions. We will continue with another session tomorrow so he is ready for his final, but he is solving problems perfectly so far."
"The student is doing OK. I've encouraged him to continue to do practice problems to build on his solid foundation. Our first session went well."
"We solved real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and algebraic expressions and equations -- with and without fractions. We will need to go over again how to divide fractions to solve for x (variables)."
"Began our tutoring by starting from the beginning and going over the basics: trig functions and relationships, indeterminate forms, limits, and then ended with solids of rotation."
"The student is starting out with derivatives, so we went over the basic rules for polynomials and exponents. Problems also involved negative exponents and constants. He is picking it up without any problem."
"We reviewed practice exam prior to student's test. The student seemed to have a much better grasp of the concepts then when we started. I believe he will do well on his exam."
