"We covered Ochem chapters and discussed a new schedule for her. She would like more practice and would like to review the material via writing out and creating flashcards. I will be recreating a schedule for her with flashcard and review days. She did an Alkane practice test and a Verbal Practice test 1. We went through both. She will do Ochem flashcards and review problems for chapters 1-5. We will go over Chemistry high yield problems: ph & pka, titration, Nernst equation, and go over the concept of antibonding."
"We went over the student's practice test that he took over the weekend and identified together topics that he still needed to learn and study. He made dramatic improvements on the physical science section! He is making tangible progress with the Verbal section as well, and feels a lot more confident in his abilities to keep improving."
"The student did well on her section tests, scoring above an 11 in each. She is better at identifying the topic being asked. We did many practice passages in Physics and Chemistry to reinforce these areas. We talked about her study schedule in the past and for the next few weeks. I asked her to take a day or two off over the next week. We came up with a detailed schedule for the next two weeks."
"Today the student wanted to continue working on lecture exams, and wanted to focus on general chemistry to boost her physical sciences score. We did the lecture exams on molecular and atomic phenomena, as well as gases and kinetics. While we did the tests, I let her do the test on her own and try to answer the questions while giving her guidance when she approached a question. She likes this method, as she felt she has studied the books enough and simply needs to learn how to approach the problems and apply the knowledge."
"The student took another practice test, and she got a 30 again. We spent most of the time going over the practice test together, working on particular passages that she had trouble with. We then worked on more of the practice subject tests. We worked on sound and waves for quite a while, and we shored up some acid/base."
"The student's been studying and printing out problem sets to cover as he encounters concepts he's still having difficulty with, so today we took our cues from those sets. By and large, his algebra skills are better than he realizes, with the main difficulty being trying to fit the questions into a template of a past question he's seen, instead of simply handling the information as it comes. We worked on several questions involving translation of English into math. We also covered combining rates and applying rates to quantities. He's going to keep plowing through practice problems before we meet again."
