Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Worked on homework problems involving factoring, and reviewed the concept of factoring out (2x+2 ---> 2(x+1)) and grouping. Made a quick problem set on solving equations (5x+10=5 --> x = -1), which I hope will help review some necessary skills."
"The student and I completed an in-depth review of college algebra in preparation of her final exam. We covered adding/subtracting fractions in addition to linear equations, finding slope, graphing quadratic/linear equations, using linear-line tests, factoring and solving word problems. At the end of the session, the student had no more pressing questions and felt prepared for her exam that was in two days."
"We went over some practice problems for the English and math sections of the ACT. Also, I summarized some test strategies and what he should practice over the next couple of weeks in preparation for the exam."
"The student and I worked on her homework involving absolute values. She struggled a little with figuring out when to take the absolute value when solving the equations, but improved as the session went along. She and I went over her geometry review involving the centers of triangles. She understood the majority of it, but wanted some reinforcement on things she missed while not in class. I was able to explain some, and we figured out the rest from her notes and the textbook. She seems to have a good understanding of most of the material."
"The student needs to listen to all the lectures, take notes, and write study questions. She has a quiz next week this will help her study effectively for the exam. For her English class, the student read through the script for her group project. I suggested she try and convince her group to allow her to write/change more of the screenplay."
