Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I discussed the fundamental theorem of calculus. She asked about the relationship between position, velocity, and acceleration. Then, we discussed how to find the integral of a function. We practiced examples involving this and finding the total area of a function."
"Today we worked on definite integrals and the rectangular approximation of their area. The student did not struggle with the material and her attitude was positive throughout the session. I included strategies to help remember certain concepts."
"The student and I went over algebra, specifically how to find the variable x in an equation. We went through the step-by-step process of it, with some real world examples to help her grasp concepts. We also went through some organizational skills, taking a look at her binder and planner. We discussed how to organize her binder specifically, and she is going to organize it before next time, separating notes, tonight's homework, and returned work. She is going to continue writing down any questions she has from class to go over with me."
"We reviewed an exam that the student took. We went through every problem in the exam and reviewed thoroughly. I then gave her different problems that are similar to the exam. She was able to understand them very well. She has a retake exam coming up this Friday. I do believe she will do well if she does a few more practice problems."
"The student and I compared fractions using a number line. This was review for her from last session and her homework. We then moved into working with fraction groups. By the end of the session, she was more confident, but we will also review this skill next session."
"Tonight's session was fantastic. I saw tremendous improvement from when we first began our sessions. We reviewed a set of practice problems that the student's teacher had assigned in preparation for a math test tomorrow. Some of the subjects that were covered were graphing, solving systems of equations, and factoring."
