Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over a geometry study packet in preparation for the student's upcoming test. This included determining angles in geometric systems, midpoint formulas and distance formulas. We also talked about projectile motion and inertia."
"First, we went over the unit test she took for the previous unit in geometry. We reviewed concepts that she had trouble with and went over why she got things wrong on the exam. We then covered her current geometry lessons in congruency, corresponding sides, and corresponding angles. We also reviewed some of her chemistry homework and labs, even working ahead a little bit in her packet of review work. She was great to work with, and a great student! I'm looking forward to seeing her again next week, when she will have more geometry concepts to go over (since she will be further progressed into the unit)."
"We reviewed slope and parallel/perpendicular lines then went on to new material of midpoint and distance formulas. The student has done really well with becoming a more active learner and taking the lead in solving problems. She needs to stay on top of the flash cards and/or study sheet each week to make quiz and eventually final exam study easier. Her quiz this week should go well. Trying to improve speed will be a new focus, now that her accuracy has improved."
"I worked with the student on reviewing finding angles with isosceles triangles and triangles that are back to back linearly and nonlinearly. We also reviewed the Pythagorean theorem and introduced the shortcut to 45-45-90 triangles. Also in chemistry, we reviewed how to write chemical formula names according to cations and anions. He had somewhat of an idea of how the concepts worked when we started the day, but after practice, we really reinforced concepts for memory."
"We went through geometry and answered several questions on the student's worksheet. I explained them to her and asked her to solve the questions to make sure she understood them. We also went through some chemistry questions. We also made plans to follow her homework so she would not lose points on them. She is doing well."
"The student has a test this week, so we worked on the chapter review in his textbook. The chapter mostly covered geometric constructions. It dealt with incenter, circumcenter, and centroid. We discussed what each one meant, and how to find each one. He felt comfortable with the material by the end of the session."
