"Both students continued to work on the ratios chapter. The concepts we covered include word problems, how to set up proportions, finding ratios of lengths of polygons, and determining whether the data in a table shows a proportional relationship by calculating ratios and graphing. They both did excellently in the activities. Student A is very good at ratio and proportions problems. This topic is new to Student B, but with more practice, she understood the concepts by the end of the session."
"Today, the student and I worked on partial fractions and improper integrals. She did well. She had a great attitude, and is making an A in the class."
"This was the last session before the student's exam today, so we reviewed all of the syllabus quickly for the one last time and he said he felt comfortable about all the topics. I am positive that he will do well on the exam."
"Factoring and simplifying expressions were covered. The student completed a homework assignment and then started a prep test for her midterm next week. She knows the concepts and is very detailed."
"We worked today on ratios, proportions, and percents. The student had a little bit of trouble at first with cross multiplying to solve proportions, but she improved greatly after a couple of problems. She also had some difficulty with percentages (mostly because she wasn't very confident in herself), so she was second guessing what she was doing. She really does very well with all of the material, and she grasps it very quickly; she just gets nervous that she's going to do it wrong. I think that with a little more confidence, her math scores will jump significantly."
"We continued to review topics for his final. We briefly discussed topics from the previous session in order to better clarify them, and we mainly focused on reviewing logarithms. Towards the end of the session we reviewed identifying minimums and maximums, and how taking the derivative of a function can provide an alternative method into finding those points. We discussed what it meant to take a derivative and why it applied into finding the mins and maxs of a function."
