Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed how to solve systems of equations by graphing and using substitution. We then went over how to solve them using matrices. The student was able to convert linear equations into matrices with ease. She found row operations to be a little confusing, but after some practice, she started to get the hang of it. We worked through several examples from her textbook, which she found very helpful. Overall, it was a productive session."
"We did a chapter 13 review to get the student ready for his test. We started on section 13.1, and got to the end of 13.4. We did a minimal three problems from each section. We then over it and he was able to apply what he learned to the next few problems. I left him with some challenging arithmetic problems to do before our next session."
"We went over her remaining problems that she had left to review for her exam at the end of the week (on proportion tests, confidence intervals, etc.). The student has a good grasp on the material; any mistakes seem to simply be slight mathematical errors and not anything to do with a lack of understanding the material."
"Today we went over the student's last quiz, which she got an 82% on, up from 67%! The three she missed all related to complementary angles, which we hadn't talked about. They are now working on the Pythagorean theorem, so we did some worksheets on that. I gave her homework of working on some word problems, which will likely be challenging, but I know she is capable of getting them."
"In today's session, both Student 1 and Student 2 practiced multiplying whole numbers with fractions. Student 1 needed a little work on the word problems while Student 2 needed some practice on the mathematical operations, They both were taught how to change improper fractions into mixed fractions and vice-versa. Also, they both reviewed some questions from their workbook from school for a test. HW was assigned on the same topic."
"During this session, the student and I reviewed his math test, reviewed his math homework, and practiced math facts using games and worksheets. On his math test, he only made two errors. He also showed significant improvement when solving math problems involving variables. He continues to work on decimal placement."
