Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"To begin, the parent and I worked out logistics and expectations. I began LHTL exercises with both boys with basic drills and trials. We'll meet again soon."
"The student did some algebra today, and did great. we then discussed rules for exponents and also some tricks for getting through these multiple-choice questions quickly!"
"The student worked through section 6 on her next practice test in preparation for our session today. She struggled to set up the rate questions that involved multiple equations (e.g. two workers at different rates), so we did a few of these problem types together. We also discussed basic logic rules, finding the slope of perpendicular lines, using the distance formula, and finding the possible side lengths of a triangle. In addition to doing more practice sections, I will send the student practice problems that test these concepts specifically. In the reading section, the student had the most difficulty with questions that asked for the meaning of a word in context. I demonstrated the strategy of replacing the word in the passage with each possible answer choice. This strategy helped the student to identify the correct answer. In preparation for our next session, the student will go through her math notes and make a list of equations that she still needs to memorize. She will also work through some of the vocabulary in her review book and finish this practice test."
