Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Both students and I covered physics, with an emphasis on kinematics, forces, static equilibrium, dynamic equilibrium, acceleration, DT/VT/AT graphs, and torque. We will review these concepts during our next meeting on Wednesday evening."
"We went through biology chapters 5-9 and will finished up the last set of questions on Monday. We also went through chemistry lecture 4 and she said she was good on the last questions for physics 3. I assigned physics chapter 4, chemistry chapter 5, one 30-minute verbal exam (take and score), organic chemistry chapter 1 and we'll have a review day for material."
"The student and I spent the majority of our time doing practice problems on alkene reactions that we went over during our last session. However, we began by doing some SN1 SN2 E1 and E2 review. We then moved on to doing practice alkene problems together. We looked at electrophilic additions of HX, X2 via a cyclic ion intermediate, water, etc. We also looked at oxidation and reduction as well as hydrogenation and hydroboration. I had her write the mechanisms out and explain them to me. After a few examples of each she seemed to have a better understanding of the mechanisms behind each. We looked at more complicated examples with hydride and methyl shifts as well."
"Today we covered Acids, Bases, Titrations and Solubility. We used questions from various sources as usual. The lesson went well, the student knew the terminology pretty well already and we spent our time going over calculations. Next time we will do a little more review on estimating logarithms but I think that she has got that down pretty well. This lesson was a nice extension from last week's on equilibrium constants."
"The student completed another practice test, and we went through the entire test together. She is definitely doing better than she was before. I assigned her problems in 4 chapters of her Gen Chem book to work on. We also went through a couple of physics topics together, including the equations of motion again and we also worked on some thermodynamics."
"It was our first session, so we covered a few different concepts that form a lot of the content on the quantitative section. We went over a number properties, including exponents, fractions, and odds and evens. We also looked at different geometry formulas. We reviewed some practice problems relating to these concepts."
