Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we went over a project involving calculating Surface areas and volumes and setting up a V/SA ratio. We also reviewed calculating arc length and areas of parts of a circle given a radius and angle."
"We went over volume of solids of rotation again. By the end of the session, the student was able to solve these problems entirely on her own. We went through many practice problems and solved them step by step so she could really get comfortable with the process as well as the concepts behind what we were doing."
"We went over functions and their general properties, quadratic equations and how to graph them. How to determine the axis of symmetry of quadratic equations, their domain and range, and how to determine their shape. The student had the minor problems determining how to figure out the maximum and minimum values of quadratic functions, but he seemed to understand them after the session finished. He seemed to be getting the material, he just need some assistance understanding some of the specifics."
"We worked on the student's math that will be on her test. She is gaining confidence and working more independently. She is really beginning to understand what she is doing. She will do well on this upcoming test."
"We worked on place units using the third grade math books. The student does well with manipulations. We addressed articulating and explaining why she was doing the mathematical operations that she was."
"The student and I worked on long division and recognizing patterns, and multiplying 2 digit by 2 digit numbers. He did well this session. He should be reminded to always check his work when he is done and make sure he has written the problems down correctly."
