Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our time together, student and I worked on adding/subtracting fractions as well as putting improper fractions into mixed numbers. Although there were some clear concepts to iron out, by the end of the session, he had a very clear understanding of the material, and felt confident about the quiz that he had the following day. Additionally, he was very happy that he raised his grade in math from an F to a C, which is a significant improvement for him. As always, my session with the student was very productive and I am confident we will continue to see this improvement in his math class."
"We went over chapter 8.2 and what she was confused about. We went over her quiz answers and how to get the right one. Once we worked on her homework the student felt she had a good handle on this part of the chapter. We watched her instructors video for 8.3 and the student was able to do her quiz. She got a 100% on her quiz. Her homework for this chapter has not been posted. We still had time left in the session so we reviewed concepts she would need to know for her next session in biology."
"The student and I went over exponential functions. This session was more of an introduction to exponential functions. We went over growth and decay and the effect of different bases. His test is this Friday and exponential functions (growth, decay) and the number e. No concerns!"
"Today, we worked on review for an exam the student has tomorrow. She had worksheets on polynomial factoring, solving polynomial equations, and graphing. She understood the concepts well and was able to do most of the problems without any difficulty. We specifically covered cubic polynomial factoring and solving and did practice problems."
"The student and I covered lessons from his online trig class. We were introduced to vector quantities and addition. He was being introduced this material for the first time, however he quickly adapted and mastered the topics."
"The student and I continued to work with factoring, synthetic division, finding the roots of a polynomial equation, and determining the end behavior of a function. She had already done much of the work reviewing for an upcoming exam and we went over the sections that she was still needing help with. We worked on identifying the behavior of parent functions for even and odd functions and then examining the effects of a negative lead coefficient. We also worked on when to use a calculator to determine roots and when to use synthetic division."
