Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student had a quiz on solving quadratic equations yesterday. We worked on two methods (practice problems). By the end of the session, he was doing a great job. Some simple mistakes, but he started catching them more towards the end of the session. My plan is to make a practice test for him before his test next week."
"During our session together, student and I went over fractions, from adding and subtracting fractions to cross multiplying. We covered a variety of concepts, involving fractions, thus resulting in a very efficient and productive session. She consistently discusses how she's been doing better in her math class since these tutoring sessions have started. As always, it was an extremely productive session and I sincerely look forward to working with her again soon."
"During our session, I helped the student prepare for his upcoming algebra 2 quiz. We primarily covered the equations describing circles and ellipses, as these were the material for the student's quiz, but also covered the equation for a hyperbola as review of material that will be on the student's next quiz. We went over what each piece of an equation for a circle, ellipse, or hyperbola means, specifically with regard to what each piece tells us about the shape of its graph. This included finding the center of a circle or ellipse, the radius of a circle or the lengths of the minor and major axes of an ellipse, as well as the foci and vertices of an ellipse or hyperbola. The student already understood all of the material very well, and after our review of how to find certain characteristics of an equation's graph, he seems very prepared for his quiz tomorrow."
"Final review before test! We practiced recognizing problem types, and the student showed really good improvement. He is confident with solving each problem, he just needs to be careful with negative signs and +/- when taking the square root. We will continue with sessions after the test when there is more homework or before the next test. Good luck tomorrow!"
"Today we focused on the concepts that the student needed more practice with. These concepts included adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators as well as factoring and expanding polynomial expressions. The student is improving and getting more comfortable with these concepts each session. It was a solid session."
"Tonight the student and I reviewed her math homework and studied for her math test on Thursday. This homework mostly dealt with exponents with variables. We had to multiple variables and exponents, divide them, raise them to the "n" power, and also simplify them. I left the student with a practice quiz/review to practice tomorrow night and Thursday morning before her test."
