Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I reviewed her pre-lab questions for voltaic and electrolytic cells. We discussed the importance of the flow of the electrons, and the differences between the flow in the two cells."
"We covered Le Chatelier's Principle and went over how to calculate equilibrium concentration problems."
"The student and I worked on the first half of her comprehensive take-home test that reviewed all the topics for the exam."
"The student and I worked on naming compounds, law of multiple proportions, law of definite compositions and chemical reactions. We went over practice problems covering each area. He feels more comfortable with the material and knows how to solve most problems. The more advanced or if the problem is too wordy, he is having difficulty knowing where to start. I suggested he break the problem down and look at the components to get at what the question is asking. His attitude is more positive towards the course and to the material. I told him I will send additional problems on topics he had requested for added help before the final."
"We went over introduction to the topic of thermochemistry, which is very "physics," including concepts of energy, heat and work. We also went into more "chemistry" concept of enthalpy and how it can be used in calculations as well as using individual bond energies to calculate reaction enthalpy change."
"We covered the following Chemistry final exam topics: enthalpy of vapor, stoichiometry, molecular orbital theory, dilutions, and gas law problems. The student needs to work on reviewing states of matter problems (i.e., gas law, enthalpy, and various concepts). Considering that it was our first session, we made good grounds in the areas that he struggled in."
