"We continued with the Algebra II exam. It is very challenging. Covered rational root theorem, using the quadratic formula, evaluating fractions with variables, and logs. We will pick up on logs next time."
"We covered solving multivariable equations for a particular variable. We worked through problems on his review and I also made up a few problems to continue his practice. By the end of the session he seemed to understand the concept."
"We completed homework problems based on inequality word problems. We then completed at least 20 practice problems to review for the test. Each problem consisted of one or two variables, unit conversions, simplifying answers, and identifying infinite or no solution equations."
"The student and I reviewed how to FOIL and then went on to learn how to factor an equation. She seemed to grasp the concept of factoring quite well. We reviewed multiplication tables and dealing with a number's sign of either positive or negative. She is beginning to understand that a two positives or two negatives multiplied together always equals a positive answer and a negative multiplied by a positive always equals a negative. I left her with 12 practice problems of FOIL and factoring."
"Tonight was our first meeting, and we reviewed the student's homework covering factoring. He is doing well with the class and understands the materials he is currently working on. The goal is to stay on top of that and help him continue to do well with his math and science work."
"The student reviewed and practiced problems requiring him to set up and solve systems of equations in 2 and sometimes 3 variables. The student was studying for a test this week and needed to write the information in table form. He was able to complete it algebraically without the putting it in the table and then after writing the equation was able to go back and complete the table from the equations he had previously written."
"The student finished her homework on algebraic expressions, chapter review and perimeter, area, surface area and volume of polygons. She has been doing very well. She takes initiatives on solving the problems."
"Today, we reviewed the previous lesson on inequalities, as well as went over questions from the previously assigned work. In addition to the notes from today, I also left her with a number of questions over the intro to functions topics we had covered."
"The student and I reviewed a homework assignment she had on discrete and continuous variables. We also reviewed functions and function notation, independent variables, and dependent variables. She did well and seemed to really understand the concepts."
"The student and I specifically covered his material for a test that he was going to take later on today. We covered scientific notation, multiplying polynomials, exponents and division and multiplication Of them as well as going over the problems he got wrong on his practice test. He continues to work diligently and I believe he is getting more confident with his work. I will know the results of his test the next time we meet next week."
