Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student took a verbal diagnostic test for homework. She did great. We then reviewed math concepts that we have studied/learned in previous sessions. I helped her articulate out a step-by-step method for doing union and intersection problems. We also covered area and perimeter. The student seems pretty solid on these concepts and the formulas. We also worked on coordinate plane problems. She was fine with coordinate plane geometry. I concluded by assigning the student some homework."
"We went over the student's reading homework, and she got most of the problems correct. We then discussed how to look for the main idea and author's tone, and I told her to make sure that the answers she chooses for other question types doesn't go against the author's main idea or tone. I had her do a few more practice passages from her reading book and she was able to get most of the questions. Finally we went over ratios. We also went over reading strategy and I gave the student some pointers. Finally we discussed preparations for the night before the test and the day of the test, including a good night's sleep, a good breakfast, snacks to take to maintain energy, and other tips. It was a great sessions!"
"Reading comprehension and analogies, vocabulary. The student is smart and capable, and I think growing his vocabulary will increase his SSAT score significantly."
