Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I reviewed for her final exam tomorrow. We drilled several concepts she confuses (inverse trig identities, radian descriptions for Quadrants IIIV, manipulating trig identity graphs) and went through her review materials. I think she is well prepared.
She now has a 67 in the class, and has a chance at a C in the class if she makes a 72 on the final. Yay!"

"We went through multiplication flashcards, division worksheets and a lot of single variable, nonquadratic algebra. We also touched on some factorable quadratic equations. We'll need to do more of those and work on non factorable quadratic equations as well as some geometry next time."
"In our initial session the student was assessed over alphabet, numbers, shapes, and colors. Both simple and complex questions were provided; We will continue to assess in multiple forms as he has good fine motor skills. He was able to draw and describe pictures and did a very good job verbally describing the picture."
"Worked with the student on math and science. We concentrated on reading graphs and working through some basic math. In math she needs a refresher in basic functionality multiplication tables, squares, geometric formulas, and order of operations. Sciencewise she just needs to work on reading and understanding the graphs and what the questions are asking about the graphs. Next time I want to assess where she is in the English/Writing/Reading sections of the test."
"reviewed proper and common nouns edited sentences for capitalization using knowledge of proper/common nouns played games to review and practice spelling rules, verb tenses, irregular verbs and possessive nouns, and to write/read sight words"
"Reviewed with the student his 1paragraph online response on Frankenstein and reviewed the student's past graded assignments he had handed in as well as an inclass essay that he did not score highly on. Specifically focused on how to introduce quotes in a written response. Spent the additional time writing a practice intro/thesis on the topic of the NHL lockout which the student is really interested in."
"Today the student and I went over her last math test. She understood all the concepts well and then went over her human biology problem set. I showed her how to research medically reputable websites so that she could respond to the questions with accuracy and understanding."
"First session. Student has already completed several practice tests independently and has identified areas needing help (critical reading, and graphing functions in math). We worked slowly through a practice reading section in a SAT prep book, talking through each question."
"The student made noticeable progress and scored above 90 at his last test. We started working on trigonometry."
"Reviewed Problem Solving Diagnostic. Discussed Alternative Strategies for Problem Solving Reviewed: factors/multiples, prime numbers, setting up algebraic equations. Set out plan for next few sessions."
"Final Session before exam. Today we reviewed everything we previously covered. Discussed timing, strategies, and what to expect. We worked on reading comprehension, listening skills, writing skills, math, nonverbal logic, and recognizing patterns. She did well overall. I wanted to introduce her to a variety of material and how it could be tested. That way she is prepared and will be confident the day of the exam. She was a pleasure to work with."
"Today, the student and I prepared for her upcoming algebra quiz by covering the various theorems of algebra (rational root theorem, imaginary root theorem, fundamental theorem, etc.). We looked at how all of these theorems helped her determine the number of possible complex roots and how to solve polynomial equations for their roots. We then discussed the binomial theorem, as she had yet to know Pascal's triangle."
