"We worked on a variety of verbal questions, which went well. We also brainstormed a few essay prompts. We mainly focused on data analysis, especially probability."
"Today the student and I continued our review of the GRE quantitative section. We started by going over the geometry problems she missed on her diagnostic test. We covered special right triangles, area and perimeter of triangles and quadrilaterals and Pythagorean theorem. We also went over the general strategy of writing out equations that are related to a question, even if you are unsure of how they will be used. I feel like she would benefit greatly from this strategy, as she can solve most problems once they are set up properly, and writing out equations will help her gather her thoughts. We also covered probability, and I will be sending her additional practice probability problems. We finished by going over some logic problems and will finish our review of geometry at our next meeting."
"The student and I reviewed a low difficulty practice set that she completed. She got 75% correct on the set, but was disappointed by this score so we spent some time talking about her goals and expectations for her score on the exam and made a plan to monitor her progress towards those goals. We then completed 10 medium difficulty practice questions together. We realized that she struggles most with setting up problems in that she gets particularly stuck when given algebra quantitative comparison questions. We worked on setting up those problems and strategies for plugging in numbers."
