Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I spent the first few minutes of the session discussing the structure and content of the placement exam, as well as some general test taking strategies. We then dove right into practice math problems, completing 15 together. In this particular section, it became evident that he is going to need the most assistance with word problems, especially those that require him to set up an equation with a variable. After this, we worked through two reading passages together; he had told me that he enjoyed history the most, so we first focused on a piece that talked about a unique Thanksgiving Day tradition at the White House. In the last fifteen minutes, we very quickly reviewed synonyms and analogies. After this first session, I can see that the most important thing for him to remember is to slow down when reading the questions to understand exactly what is being asked of him, but I'm confident that if he takes his time he will realize that he does know much of the content being tested."
"We worked on a SSAT practice math set. The student did an excellent job as we covered sets, algebraic equations, logic problems, and number lines."
"The student and I worked on the math section in the book she has been working on. She has demonstrated the ability to retain new information quickly and use it properly while working on problems that we see."
