Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we covered Mendelian genetics as a part of an overview for the student's upcoming exam. We covered dominant, recessive, incomplete dominance, and codominance."
"In this session, we discussed the basic molecules of life (lipids, carbohydrates, proteins, and nucleic acids), the components of a cell, and osmosis/diffusion."
"For Biology, we went through the end of the chapter questions for the chapter on flowering plants. We reviewed the vocabulary and concepts."
"This week we reviewed the material from previous weeks, in preparation for a cumulative test the student has to take this week. We covered the digestive system, the respiratory system, and the circulatory system in detail. We went over a study guide together and I had the student explain the answer to me and I would suggest any ways to improve the answer. Overall, the student seemed to have a good grasp on the material and our study session went well. I only had to point out a few things for him to review (intestinal villus structure, digestive enzymes, and one unclear question from his study guide on how gas exchange happens...The student will ask his teacher.) Finally, we moved on to review some material for his upcoming pig dissection!"
"Today we tried to go over as much material as people, given that the student's final exam is on Thursday. We went over some questions on her worksheet and did mixed practice questions. I recommend she try to complete as much of the study guide as possible with the help of her parents or friends before Thursday. I wish her the best of luck!"
"Tomorrow is the student's final exam so we covered a lot of material. We covered new material that went over the different types of population growth and the different factors that affect that growth. The student was a little confused about density-dependent factors vs density-independent factors, but I was able to explain it with some examples and a simple drawing. We also went over some of the material that we had previously covered just to make sure all of the concepts were clear. She said that feels prepared for the final and understands the ideas much better than with previous tests in the class."
