"Today we covered subject matter including adding and subtracting polynomials, multiplying polynomials, special product patterns of polynomials, solving polynomial equations in factored form, factoring trinomials, factoring using special product patterns, and factoring using the distributive property. These exercises are time-consuming to work out completely, but the student is definitely becoming quite adept at the variety of processes covered today. He is even starting to utilize math terminology in our discussions. It was another very productive and pleasant session."
"Concepts covered included reviewing for the student's quiz on radical functions. We reviewed the properties and went over challenging problems that showed that he grasped the skills, he just forgot the properties. After this study session, I believe that he will achieve a high score!"
"The student and I split this time between preparing for an in class test and preparing for her final exam. Her test was on simplifying and solving rational expressions. We reviewed the concept and the student did very well with this. She seemed ready for the test. Her final is comprehensive for the year and we went over how to prepare a study guide. This is something she and I will work on together."
"The student and I focused on finding information from quadratic equations, including finding the axis of symmetry, finding the coordinates of the vertex, identifying whether the vertex is a minimum or a maximum, and graphing the equation for quadratic. He did well, for the most part, but we will work more on graphing quadratics."
"The student and I prepped for his final by going though his study guide. We also wrote down a concise one-page list of the concepts covered during the review so he would know which problems to practice more of."
"We worked on questions from the algebra workbook that the student brought. We covered various topics: distributive property, solving for x given an equation, graphing given equations, factoring polynomials, solving for f(x) given an equation and an x value, and definition of a function. He seemed to pick up quickly on these concepts with some subtle hints. I showed him how to use process of elimination to work through some problems. We also went over some concepts from the last session and he seems to have a solid understanding of those concepts."
