Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I covered permutations, probability and tree diagrams for permutations. Student was struggling with permutations as it relates to probability and permutation tree diagrams. Student was motivated and attentive to the material that was reviewed. I included strategies that will help student with permutations, probability and permutation tree diagrams. I gave student extra practice with the concepts that she struggled with. By the end of the session student was more comfortable and confident with the concepts and she was able to provide me with examples of all three concepts."
"We began with a brief review of our last session, then hopped right into new material. We began with exponential functions and logarithmic functions. We then touched on properties of logs as well as base and natural logs. Lastly, we went over series and sequences for geometric and arithmetic functions."
"The student's teacher did a presentation of polynomial long division and synthetic division, for which they've already had a test. We went over the material since she will have the opportunity to redo some of the test for additional credit once it is handed back. After that we discussed the midpoint and distance theorems, since her class is rapidly moving ahead with the conic sections."
"Today, we covered polynomial equation solving, radical equations, compound interest word problems, and multiplication with rational exponents. The student was struggling the most with radicals, but we went over a lot of practice and she seemed to get a good grasp on the concept. The student was very receptive, as usual! I left her with tips on exponent rules and a reminder to review the rules before her final exam"
"The student and I worked on writing this time. We discussed all types of writing and wrote some things together. I asked him to keep a journal over the summer to keep him writing, and also to read every night as he has been doing."
"We spent the first half hour or so reviewing the sin and cos laws in trig. Afterward, we spent the entirety of the session preparing for the final. We worked on factoring, grouping, and completing the square."
