Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we worked on finding the volume of cones and composite shapes including cylinders and cones together. The student was able to apply the formulas and solve the problems. She did well on her Math Test last week and received an 87% which is significantly better. She is doing an excellent job and following my recommendations."
"The student had standardized testing at school. We did some review problems. We started with adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. Then we ended with word problems for division of 3 digit numbers. He did very well with everything we practiced."
"Today the student and I worked on his math and writing homework. He is now moving into solving problems with area and perimeters. He did most of his homework by himself today and I helped him with some of the last few that gave him some problems. We also finished his writing assignment. We got a head start on it last week and finished it up tonight."
"The student and I met this weekend for an exam that she is to have on Monday covering basically everything she's gone over this quarter, along with new material that we made sure to go over. We worked further with solving and simplifying equations that use rationals and exponents. We also went over word problems that included using formulas to solve for continuous and compounded interest rates. The student felt a lot more confident about these concepts once we went through a few different possible examples. I feel good that she's going to do great!"
"We studied the subjects of surface area and volume. We also covered the formulas for several three-dimensional shapes, including: rectangular and triangular prisms, pyramids, cylinders, and cones. The student tried to understand why each formula is calculated the way it is. She completed practice problems for each shape/formula. I noticed some improvement in math/arithmetic skills, in terms of speed and accuracy. I quizzed her on the different formulas. I assigned the student practice problems for further review, as well a page in the book containing a chart with all the necessary formulas."
"This session we wrapped up and tried to figure out anything the student still had questions on. We worked a little more on exponential growth, and also covered arithmetic and geometric sequences. She seemed very clear on the processes of everything, but what may cause her small difficulties on the test is small calculation errors. I have faith in her, and it helps that the test will be multiple choice."
