Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today the student and I worked on the theory behind negative numbers and simplifying fractions. Her math skills continue to impress me, hopefully she will gain more confidence with them soon! We also worked on her social studies/ English project about the Apache tribe. She showed a lot of creativity. I would like her to keep working on thinking about what she is going to say before she writes. Overall, it was a great session!"
"We reviewed working with negative numbers and the student did well. He still needs guidance with the concept of subtracting a negative. We continued to work with percent and used proportions to find the percent of a given number, given the number what is the percent, and also how to convert percent to decimals and fractions. I recommended that he work with the math website and review concepts and practice. He did well and is making progress."
"Homework - The student had to complete 2 pages in his math book: Measure and Draw Angles. Teach the concept of angles and measuring angles using a protractor. HE practiced how to place the protractor on a given angle and how to read the degrees of the angle."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming math final. We focused on methods for factoring, graphing functions, and identifying important characteristics of functions."
"The first part of the session focused on helping the student review her math homework. We then watched a clip on biological molecules and discussed aspects of lipids, proteins, and carbohydrates. After that we played a word association game. To finish up the session we worked on the same pattern recognition activity she learned last week. This time we started with all the variables in use and she demonstrated improvement in both speed and range of possible solutions."
"I helped the student complete his math placement test for college. With math and theology complete, he only has psychology and British literature remaining."
