Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we worked on rates and ratios. There were some difficult problems in these questions, so I taught the student how to break them down into appropriate variables or to use the standard rate equations to solve the questions. I assigned a subset of these chapters. I also assigned another set of data interpretation questions. We were able to review coordinate geometry very quickly. I assigned a subset of this chapter as well. Finally, we talked through some more essay details. She will write at least one of each type for next time."
"Today in our first session the and I first developed a general study plan for her upcoming graduate school entrance exam. We began by working on the quantitative reasoning section. The first topics we covered included rates and rations, percent change, proportions and some work with exponents. She seemed to pick up the content quickly as we went through problems, and I will be assigning her some practice problems to reinforce what we learned today. We also compiled a list of formulas which will be crucial for taking the exam. I also gave her some advice on how to prepare for the verbal section which we will start in our next session."
"We began today's session by reviewing math questions the student had from her review of the test prep book. We then went into detail discussing her first two practice essays, focusing on how to structure and expand her body paragraphs and come up with strong supporting examples. I also had her write three body paragraphs for a new prompt, and I saw significant improvement."
