Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session, we went over 7.5--exponential equations and differential equations. The student improved significantly on solving separable differential equations--he knew exactly what each step was and worked efficiently without committing errors. Then, we went over the concept of solving simultaneous equations, and lastly, we went over the chain rule and some practice multiple choice questions."
"The student has done very well in his previous statistics course (highest grade in the class) and is now starting the second semester of the PhD level Data Analysis series. Today, he and I worked on the first assignment for his second semester data analysis course. We used a new dataset to construct an analysis set, including metric and nonmetric variables. We computed a composite score from a set of scale items from the existing data and ran preliminary data screening on the variables to be included in the analyses. Next, we conducted a missing values analysis and discussed a plan for completing the rest of the assignment. He will work on the last few assignment points and we will meet again on Monday to review."
"The student and I worked this week on problem solving strategies for her upcoming ACT. She should continue to work on problem solving before going in to take her ACT for her to reach her full potential. I gave her problems to complete for next week and for us to review at our next session."
"We reviewed past material in this session. We covered assigning triangle sides and names, adding fractions, subtracting fractions, multiplying fractions, and dividing fractions. This day was very relaxed for him. He found everything easy in context. It was a great practice day!"
"Today, the student went through some of the mistakes from some old fourth grade tests and a prior sixth grade test. She did need a bit of help correcting each of her mistakes this session, but I believe ultimately she understood all of them. She was pretty productive this session."
"For this session, the student reviewed many of the skills that we have been learning, including finding GCF, LCM, simplifying fractions, finding the LCD, converting fractions to mixed numbers, and adding fractions."
