Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I reviewed his homework from last session, which he completed in its entirety. In the math section, there was at least work for every problem, which I was very happy to see. As we went over the ones he struggled with, we identified consistent stumbling blocks for him and ended up doing a review on angles, bisectors, and some relevant vocabulary. We emphasized labeling our diagrams and using every bit of information that we could possibly conclude in finding an answer. For homework, I left him with some of the higher level math problems and to not only identify the strategy that might make sense for the problem but then to follow through and actually try to complete the problem (by plugging in, by making and solving an equation, etc.). By giving each problem serious thought and training himself how to attempt and complete each problem in practice, he is priming himself to do the same in an actual testing environment. We also worked on some writing - error identifications and sentence improvement - and left him with more writing practice for homework."
"The student and I went over specific writing concepts today, and we applied them to the sections he had done as well as ones we did together today. He had already heard of most of the concepts, but a little detail organization was required. He had only missed the tougher questions in his writing sections for homework. He struggles mainly with choosing "no error" as an answer choice. I have given him another test to do, and we will continue to address this issue in future sessions."
"The student and I reviewed a few sections of a practice test she had completed and completed one math section together. For homework, I instructed her to complete an additional 3 sections."
