Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, the student and I went over reading comprehension. She struggles to keep pace and understand what the exam is asking. When I explain it to her, then she is quick to answer it, so it is just a matter of understanding the test-maker's terminology and language. Clearly, she has not had much experience with this sort of wording, so I told her to do as many of these passages as she can before the test. This issue should be alleviated as she familiarizes herself with the language and format of the test. She seemed to do better when we took a pause after every paragraph and reviewed what we had just read. She said she will try to incorporate this into her strategy while taking the test."
"Went over the English section, reviewed some math problems, and critiqued an essay. Assigned him to practice writing three essays and review science flashcards."
"The student and I met again today. We were going to move onto the math section, but I decided to finish up what we had in the English section, mainly the style concepts. We also went of over one of my favorite concepts: misplaced modifiers. He handled them with no problem. He just needs more practice with these, and I think he'll be fine. We will start math next week. I look forward to our next session."
