Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on deriving trig identities. I showed the student how to derive the identities and then he worked on problems from his textbook. He solved trig proofs using the newly learned trig identities."
"We worked on law of sines and cosines. Focused on drawing pictures with angles of elevation and depression and then solving them."
"The student worked on her homework and reviewed for a quiz. She is working on trig identities, and the material is still new."
"The student and I covered trig sum/ diff formulas. We used them in the forward and reverse direction. We also proved some trig identities and focused on memorizing trig values. Lastly, I discussed inverse trig functions."
"The student and I worked through her review notes and practice problems provided by the professor for studying for the final exam today. We covered the graphs of polynomial and trigonometric functions, the transformations of parent functions and how to graph the resultant changes, calculating the inverse of a given function, and determining various facts about a polynomial's graph such as its x- and y-intercepts, its positive and negative intervals, and its vertices. We also reviewed various facts from the trigonometric unit circle and used them to deduce various facts about the graphs of a secant and cosecant function. The student will be taking her final exam later today and I am confident she will perform well on it as a result of our tutoring sessions."
"We reviewed for the student's upcoming test on arithmetic and geometric sequences. He needs to be able to apply the equations to the problems. He also needs to take advantage of his calculator and equation sheet so he doesn't make any minor mistakes. Once I explain things to him, he's a good listener and applies the information to the problem."
