Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, I helped the student study for her science test on ecosystems and biodiversity. We reviewed how I suggested she reorganize her homework folder and subject binders last session, and she appeared more on board with my recommendations this time. In regards to studying for her test, I quizzed her over the first part of her study guide and helped her begin answering the questions in the second half of her study guide. She had a strong grasp on the food chain, food web, and how producers create ATP. She did need extra practice reviewing biodiversity and why biodiversity is necessary to the health of an ecosystem. We reviewed how plant biodiversity provides consumers with food diversity and how this is important in instances when one plant species might get wiped out due to a parasite or disease. We also discussed the importance of genetic diversity in plants and how the more genetically diverse a plant species is, the less vulnerable it is to disease and invasive species. We then reviewed the difference between native and invasive plant and animal species and why and how invasive species are wreaking havoc on the natural world. Her test is not for another week, so she has more time to work on her study guide and study. I encouraged her to review her study guide for at least 15 minutes each day leading up to her test. She had a great attitude during this session and was very eager to study and discuss life science."
"We went through fluids. I was able to go through the entire chapter with her and give her questions along the way. She is a little stuck on some of the concepts, but as a whole she understands quite a bit of it very well. Her class is going through what we studied in our previous lesson so she feels ahead. I told her to order an AP physics study book and do the first practice exam."
"Today we worked on continuing to discuss chemical reaction types. We spent the majority of the session working through double displacement reactions and how to balance and plan these."
