Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student took a quiz on verb conjugation and vocabulary. It was a good way for her to gauge how well she's been doing. She realized that she should be spending more time memorizing vocabulary, and we agreed that she should do that on her own rather than spend our sessions going through flashcards. We also introduced some new irregular verbs with stem change (-e to -ie and -o to -ue) and went through their definitions and how to conjugate them. We did an exercise to practice those verbs and I identified additional exercises for her to do on her own."
"The student and I dove back in with some review of preterit vs. imperfect. We did some work translating sentences and deciding which tense was the appropriate to use. We also spent time on verbs that change meaning in the preterit tense."
"Student A: We went over a test she took at school. I gave her some advice on reading test instructions for future reference. We reviewed pronouns and the conjugation of the verb SER. Student B: We went over his presentation. I gave him advice to help him learn the noun with its corresponding article. We studied the preterit (regular -ar, -er, -ir ending verbs, irregular verbs, stem-changing verbs, and -car, -gar, -zar ending verbs)."
"Today we reviewed time expressions and I asked the student to write ten sentences using those expressions for homework. After that we discussed the next paragraph of the short story we are reading and I helped her with vocabulary and pronunciation while she told me a short summary of the paragraph. At the end, we started going over the verb "gustar" and she seemed to understand the first part of the lesson very well. We will continue with this verb in the next session."
"Today's session covered the different kinds of pronouns, and words that have similar sounds but different spelling and meaning. Question words were also reviewed. Client had the opportunity to speak and listen in Spanish. Homework: watch TV, listen to radio and read in Spanish."
"We reviewed for Character quiz on Unit 3 Lesson B. Recommended using flash cards and copying characters."
