Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, the student and I reviewed some recent topics that were on a recent exam, including volume of pyramids, cones, and spheres as well as chords and arcs of a circle. I left the student more trigonometry practice problems in addition to some chord and arc problems."
"Massive review session. We covered all second order differential equations up until simple harmonic motion models. We moved on to arbitrarily high order linear equations and Laplace transforms. Tomorrow we'll review Laplace transforms and possibly matrix systems."
"We began our session with a general discussion about the student's class and how her tests/quizzes are administered. It appears that a majority of the questions (~60-75%) are conceptual multiple choice questions. As a result we worked more concepts than on practice problems. We went over conceptual questions from the book and discussed general material regarding pressure, fluids, thermal expansion, and material properties. We scheduled another session for Wednesday."
"The student and I met for the first time today and reviewed how to run a t-test for pair-wise comparisons in Excel. Some, but not all of the calculations we used were done by hand, with him picking up on the Excel component quite rapidly. He seemed pleased by his own progress and wants to meet twice a week until he's confident in his abilities."
"We practiced creating equations from word problems, defining variables, and setting up equations. We reviewed class work problems and homework on these topics. Last, we practiced problems concerning distributive property, decimals, and negative terms."
"The student remembered a lot of what we went over the last time, and I was impressed! We talked about the box model and how the different parts control different settings of the imaginary box around a web element. We covered margins, padding, and borders in general, and borders and margins in great detail. He learned, by example, how to manipulate each to fine tune how he wants the web page or section on the page to look. He is able to connect the new concepts to things that he already knows, and that enables him to easily remember what he's learned."
