Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"This week we took a hard look at the irregular verbs from the preterite tense and committed them to memory. We also had some time to drill vocab for the student's upcoming test. We started making flash cards as we learned vocab words, and he will finish the rest of the list in his spare time."
"We went over the student's assigned homework, pronunciation, vocabulary acquisition, and reading strategies. The student is a fast learner, and responds well to new and more challenging exercises."
"Today was a review day. We played some review games to cover everything that we've covered in the last 2.5 weeks including: greetings, basic questions, colors, days of the week and family vocabulary. We also worked some on remembering basic verb endings for yo, tu, and ella/el with the few verbs that we know."
"Session was completed at client's house. This completes session focused on conversations in Spanish. Client and tutor talked about different topics. The client had the opportunity to practice (speaking and listening) the verbs, pronouns and other grammatical components of the Spanish language. The client has showed improvement."
"The student and I went over how to determine when to use subjunctive and when to use indicative. We talked about the differences between moods and many common words and phrases that should help indicate which conjugation to be using. We then did some practice where I would ask him to determine which to use in particular sentences and to translate the sentences. This went very well! We also spent some time talking about his music theory class. We briefly went over time signatures and then spent a while on intervals. I tried to teach him a quicker way to identify intervals, since that can be time consuming. All in all, he did great work!"
"We first reviewed some new words we learned from the past few sessions, and then we learned some new sentences with those words in them. They are pretty simple sentences with clear structures, and the student practiced with those sentences with different details (e.g., "I like grapes" -> "I like strawberries."). She grasped most of the sentence structures pretty quickly."
