Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed for the student's Geography test tomorrow. I reinforced the sections reviewed yesterday as well. We took notes as a good review and helpful study guide. Overall, he had learned a lot about the United States. He was instructed to continue reviewing for the test using his notes and the textbook, and to focus on the key vocabulary words I listed for him. I also looked at several quizzes he took for his English class during the first trimester. I noticed he did very well on the Content Multiple Choice questions."
"The student and I worked on geography this evening. She had to identify the 21 republics within the Russian federation and answer questions about them. We discussed several aspects of Russian history, culture, and politics. Hopefully, next week we can recover and move on to literature."
"Met with student, discussed testing issues and grades. Student seemed very happy to see me and buckled down to work. Went through each subject and started Algebra. Student had no problem with Algebra and the sub-subject was introductory statistics although it was not called that. Concentrated on Geography, specifically Kenya and regional issues/relationships/history, etc. Homework was to write one page on his career goals, pros and cons. I will use this to focus him."
"In preparation for the student's test tomorrow, I helped him review the chapters and sections that he would be tested on. The focus of the test is United States and Canada. I went through each section with him, asking him the reading focus questions as well as the assessment questions. He was able to explain his answers properly, as well as define the key terms. At the end of the session, I instructed him to complete the chapter assessments and make a chart of the Northeast, South, Midwest, and Western territories of the United States, and write about the economic contributions, climate, etc."
"During our session today, the student and I worked on his state presentation project. We found two maps to satisfy that portion of the assignment and reviewed what material should be included in that report. He and I also created a mock-up of his presentation board, which he has to turn into his teacher tomorrow."
"The student and I continued to work on his major research paper. His instructor told him he needed primary sources for his work. I explained to the student what a primary source was so he could check his references. We also cleaned up his paper and attempted to fill holes and solve issues we hadn't fixed last time."
