Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The first student covered how to start reviewing for finals; The second student covered To Kill a Mockingbird; The third student covered a map of Africa. The student seems to have definitely upped her confidence. The third student seems to be figuring out how to make connections in some of his subjects better. I left them with creating study plans - deciding what they needed to cover and how long it would take to cover it."
"The student and I reviewed for his science final exam. We spent the majority of the session reviewing projectile motion. I taught him some formulas to help him double-check his graphing method. I gave him practice problems to apply these. We also spent some time reviewing circuits, specifically the application of Ohm's law."
"We covered study skills and organization. We are also working on time management skills. We covered SAT vocabulary basics. He has been assigned two books to pick up and begin his review of vocabulary."
"The student started by making his clock schedule without any prompting! We then played a Scrabble game to help him with vocabulary and spelling. Next we read a couple chapters of Ms. Roopy is Loopy and started making a list of characteristics of AJ, the main character. We ended by continuing our game of chess from last session."
"We went over word construction and reading comprehension. The student is nervous to start the third grade. He has difficulty with reading comprehension and essay writing. He wants to improve and he's a great listener."
"Today I helped the student with her math homework. The assignment was to complete the number pattern. In order to help her I wrote out all sets of numbers and had her underline the number that changed each time. Then I had her determine what place value changed, how, and by how much. Then we used that pattern to find the missing patterns. This assignment took almost the entire time. After that I had her complete some subtraction problems out of a workbook. She seemed to have a difficult time with motivation on the finding patterns homework, but she enjoyed filling out the subtraction activity workbook."
