Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on decimal and fraction conversion. We also discussed her up-coming math test which is next week."
"Today we worked through integral operations on trigonometric functions. The path to the answer isn't necessarily straightforward and often requires reworking; he did very well in this regard."
"Today the student and I worked on time management when taking tests. We went over his tests and looked over his mistakes. I made mini quizzes for him and timed him and gave him grades to simulate a test-like environment."
"The student and I worked on several things this session. First he worked on his homework which consisted of coordinate plane problems, which he did well on. We also went over the problems he missed on his previous homework about volume. Then he finished the worksheet on mean/ median/ mode/ range without a calculator. Then we went over probability, which he enjoyed a lot more and was more confident in. Lastly, we spent quite some time on being able to read analog clocks, tell time, and calculate elapsed time between a start and end time. He was getting much better at telling time, but needs more work on calculating elapsed time."
"The student finished the remaining makeup assignments he had during our last session, so today we worked on the study guide for his upcoming exam. It will cover factoring for various types of polynomials (trinomials that can be "reverse FOILed," polynomials for which you can factor out monomials, and so on). There were a number of different strategies that could be used depending on a number of factors. I showed him how to solve the ones I knew how to do, and we will do the rest at our next session. Thankfully there is no rush since he is caught up in his assignments and has not yet even covered the material for the upcoming test in class. I'm glad he is caught up."
"We covered more proportions for the student's exam. The problems are starting to get longer. He is able to finish everything and get the correct answer."
