"We went over the quizzes he's taken so far in Spanish class. For each topic (reflexive verbs, commands, preterit), I gave him a review on how to use these concepts. I then tested his knowledge by essentially giving him the same quiz in a different sequence orally. He seemed to do alright. I think he needs to spend some time memorizing vocab and conjugations by rote. The other big thing for him is not to second guess himself. He will often be right on the first try, but he answers every question tentatively. These are things we will be working towards for his upcoming final."
"Today the student studied an on-line course while taking notes on pronunciation characteristics of South America. We listened to several segments, also taking notes for review and quiz study. The topics discussed included: the economy, the geographic vegetation, the youth and the Colombian/US debates."
"The student and I continued studying for his Spanish final on Wednesday. He will also have his oral assessment on Wednesday. I made flashcards for his vocabulary words, and we went through them until he got them all correct. We continued role playing his oral assessment dialogues until they became more fluid and natural. We did exercises in a Spanish grammar book I brought on the grammar concepts he will be tested on: ser vs estar, past tense, saber vs. conocer, affirmatives and negatives, comparisons, reflexive verbs, and question words. He has gained confidence in the material and seems prepared for his exam."
