Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student and I reviewed problems from her math review packet. She had questions regarding lengths, surface areas, and volumes, so I helped to describe how to solve for each and how they are related in regards to their ratios."
"Reviewed for upcoming midterm. She remembers the material pretty well and shouldn't have any big problems with the test."
"Reviewed a last minute comprehensive synopsis of the student's course before his final today - he won't get 100, but I think he's ready."
"We reviewed properties of quadrilaterals and associated theorems, and we worked through several practice problems. We also reviewed the slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines and how they relate to particular quadrilaterals."
"Today we tackled an algebra review packet given at the student's school. We reviewed solution of linear equations, system of linear equations, and solution of quadratic equations by factorization. In geometry, we reviewed a set of parallel lines crossed by a transversal. I checked her understanding, and she was doing very well. Overall, the win from this session is that she remembered and practiced some results from algebra 1, and she is ready to advance."
"Today's session was spent mostly on reviewing and applying definitions, postulates, and theorems to two column proofs, especially as they occur to triangles (e.g., corresponding parts of congruent triangles are congruent, AAS, SAS, SSA, SSS). The student is committed to passing Geometry and is willing to learn. Because she struggles especially with proofs, it would benefit her to practice at least one two column proof daily. This will help her apply learned postulates, theorems, and definitions. The next session is scheduled for Tuesday."
