Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on reviewing a bit for the student's multiple choice exam. We started with some questions which were on finding areas between curves as well as volumes of rotation. We also looked at how to find the derivative of an inverse function knowing points of the original function and its derivative. We finished with a review on how we use calculus to understand the motion of a particle. Overall this was a great session; he seemed very prepared for his exam."
"This session was spent moving between the two subjects of Writing and Math, completing sample problem sets on word usage and sentence completion, and going over the student's most recent assignment on the basic principles of geometry. Of particular interest to the student was a sounder understanding of the spatial relations between parallel, intersecting, and skew lines. Standards of linear notation as they relate to segments and rays were also reviewed. Algebraic applications of arithmetic means were briefly introduced. On matters of Writing and sentence completion, steady but significant improvements have been made in identifying and interpreting the meaning of words from context."
"The student and I prepared for her upcoming quiz by looking over her most recent target checks, correcting errors, and discussing a few concepts (such as how an extraneous solution could be possible when solving a logarithmic equation). We then went over some practice exercises from the textbook."
"We covered confidence intervals, 2-sample t-tests, and Type I error/Type II error in today's session. The student seems to have a great grasp of the material and understood all of the topics that we went over this morning."
"The student and I discussed a project about finding the maximum area given the parameters that describe said area. She needed to translate the parameters into an equation, graph the equation, and determine from the graph what the maximum area could be. She did very well, and she is a very bright student."
"The student and I reviewed her assignment on percentages. She was very confident in working with percentages. She retained the information very well. She was also able to walk me through the steps and explain her thought process. She independently worked and asked for assistance when she needed it. Next session, we will review her test that was taken last week."
