Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on vectors and physics today. The vectors lesson was easy today because the student knows this material from physics class so for the math version of vectors we merely had to review a few minor concepts like how to find unit vectors, and dot product notation. We discussed some concepts dealing with the acceleration of a particle on a planet depended on both gravity and charge. He was able to figure out the problem and make the connections between force due to electric charges, electric field, and electric potential. He also mentioned he got a 98 in his last math exam that involved complex numbers. I'm looking forward to keeping him motivated for the rest of the year."
"We covered determinants and Cramer's Rule. I showed him how to determine determinants in an easy-to-remember way. I also taught him how to break it down into steps. The student had a very positive attitude towards the material. He has the rest of his homework to complete as practice."
"Today we started by giving the student three problems similar to the ones we'd worked on last Sunday (simplifying with exponents, area of a cylinder, nth term of a sequence). Things seemed to stick by the end, so we made good progress."
"We worked with graphing integers on number line; writing, graphing, and solving inequalities; and writing and solving equations for real life situations."
"Today, we worked on radicals. We first started with perfect squares and then went to more complex radicals. The student did awesome! We worked on finding the closest whole number given a specific radical which wasn't a perfect square. After that we worked on word problems that dealt with areas of squares, rectangles, triangles, and trapezoids. In these problems we were given either the area and asked to find the lengths of sides or vise versa. The student seemed to be a pro at today's session."
"The student and I covered review for the Algebra 2 EOC. We focused our review on trigonometry, but we did review completing the square as well. The student, as usual, was enthusiastic about covering the material and was very upbeat about reviewing for his exam. The student and I discussed the materials he should review more tonight and tomorrow morning before the exam. The student seems to be more confident than when we first started our tutoring sessions. He seems to be ready to tackle Day 2 of the exam."
