Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Went over test review for the upcoming final. Topics included various factoring techniques on binomial and trinomial expressions."
"The student and I practiced problems from his final review packet today. We practiced word problems, graphing linear functions, and completing the square, along with other topics from throughout the semester."
"Today, the student and I reviewed for his algebra and geometry exams tomorrow (Friday). We were able to get through all the material that may be present, and he feels sufficiently prepared."
"We covered line inequality geometry. We took practice problems from the student's school work, and we solved for the discrete solutions to each inequality. He portrayed a positive attitude and was responsive to every question type that I asked. Overall, he is improving at a tremendous pace."
"The student and I pressed onward in math. I introduced the idea of graphing quadratic equations and using factoring to find the zeroes of the quadratic function. Because he is good at factoring, he didn't have much of a problem learning how to do this. He is interested in real world application of quadratics, so we focused on some real-life physics problems that are modeled with quadratic functions. At the end of the session, he even found the real zeroes of a cubic function. This is technically a Pre-Calculus concept. Of course, he still does not know all the nuances of the process, but I suppose that with more time, I honestly could get him a year ahead in mathematics."
"The student recently moved back into Algebra class from Geometry, so he's got some catching up to do. We walked through old Algebra tests together -- he occasionally couldn't remember the method to approaching a problem, but once his memory was jogged, he was very successful."
