Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student is currently studying polynomial functions; tonight in particular, she and I practiced using the discriminant to determine what sort of roots will result from a quadratic equation. I also helped her review a prior assignment over finding roots of higher-degree polynomials."
"Reviewed angular speed and momentum equations used in word problems. Translation of units to arrive at std SI units was challenging, but student was able to understand concept and applied this by the end of session."
"The student worked today on understanding logarithmic functions and their properties. Problems were worked surrounding this topic. We manipulated logarithms using their properties, calculated values of variables found in logarithmic problems, and calculated the value of logarithms using a calculator. The difference between log x and ln x were discussed and compared. We also spoke about previous quizzes, upcoming, tests, and midterms."
"The student's assignment was about using reference angles on the unit circle for trig functions. She understood it well before our session, but she needed a little support in using radians instead of degrees. We also covered dividing degrees into minutes and seconds, and converting between decimals and minutes."
"We covered the basic 6 trigonometric functions and how to find their exact values on the unit circle. We covered the definitions of reference angles, terminal sides and how to determine triangle lengths using information about trig functions."
"Student and I covered a host of pre-calculus topics. We covered polar coordinates, the unit circle, and inverse functions. We practiced these topics using her homework assignments, and I created some practice problems for topics in which I saw her struggle. I left my notes for her, and I recommend that she practice unit circle and special right triangles further."
