Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I wrote drafts of two essays. The student needs to finalize these on Google Docs before our next session. The student should also work on the "Common Application" which is required by his colleges of choice."
"First, we did some research for the student's project on the Grutter v. Bollinger court case. We found some preliminary information, created a list of resources, and formed a strategy for approaching the project. Next, we began filling in information on the study guide for the student's Missouri Constitution test."
"The student and I worked on his math homework, which consisted mostly of working with complex numbers. We went over complex numbers' properties, algebra with c.n.'s, and also strategies for limiting "silly" errors."
"The student was awesome today! He was hesitant at first. However, when I brought up his activities from class, he became very agreeable and was willing to work the rest of the session. I was able to convince him to read to me towards the end. He is making a lot of progress now, and I think having a teacher who is confident in him really helps."
"We talked about what the student found challenging when she took the SAT in November. Based on this, we mainly focused on writing multiple choice and reading sections. We discussed specific grammatical principles (to be expanded on in future sessions) as well as overall test-taking strategies."
"The student started by testing out the game to see if there were any glitches or bugs that he previously hadn't found. For the most part, the game was bug free. He continued to move some of the code from the old game that wasn't working into the new game. He moved the start menu into the new game and figured out a way to center the text into the buttons that he drew on screen. We then talked a little about adding a log file or a way to save the status of the game when the game closes and read from the log file when the game starts."
