Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, we covered a variety of topics including the relationship of parallel lines, composing functions given a slope and a point or a slope and a given y-intercept and lines of best fit. The student can now successfully compose functions and estimate a line of best fit for linear functions."
"We clarified and reviewed the topics she had trouble with on her most recent test to prepare her for her make-up test and the end of course test."
"We discussed factoring, solving quadratic equations, and the zero-product property. We also went over the student's homework, and I gave him some practice questions to work on."
"We worked on word problems that the student has to convert into linear equations and solve for the unknown. The problems were real world practical examples that help the student to relate the topic to mathematical concepts. Examples include calculation of tuition as a function of fees and credit hours. Another example is finding the profit based on the number of items sold and the initial investment. Problems include graphing the linear functions and finding the break even points or x intercepts. She took notes from the white board and appeared to be an eager learner."
"We went over a comprehensive review for the student's exam. He is very strong in exponents, radicals, and polynomials. We also discussed some test taking strategies for multiple choice exams. His exam is tomorrow, and he says that he feels ready!"
"We reviewed for the December exam. We went over inequalities, two variable equations, graphing, and setting up equations from points on a line. We also did some word problems. The student has an excellent attitude. Next, we reviewed for his Biology exam. We discussed things we have studied in the past, including cell respiration and photosynthesis. We also went over mitosis and meiosis and Mendelian genetics."
