Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In our session, the student and I continued with more practice problems given by his Pre-Calculus teacher. He worked on problems that covered polynomials, piece-wise functions, domain and range of functions, difference quotient, factoring polynomials, and synthetic division of polynomials. In addition, we briefly reviewed the unit circle and trigonometric functions that were introduced in the previous session. He quickly was able to work on problems, and was very quick to be able to do the synthetic division problems (even faster than I did for some of them). He struggled a bit on the piece-wise functions, but after clearing up some initial confusion (focusing on where the function changed rather than only the points given to help calculate the individual pieces), he breezed through the problems. The student is progressing very well, and is able to recognize small errors and corrects them immediately. While he is still confusing x-intercepts and y-intercepts occasionally, he grasps the concepts."
"We reviewed how to determine whether a function is continuous and how to find the limit. She had recently learned intermediate value theorem in school, so we practiced problems on that."
"During this session, graphing different functions was reviewed using a homework sheet in preparation for the upcoming quiz."
"Today's session focused on trigonometric verification and polynomial factorization. We also incorporated trig identity properties into the concepts."
"The student and I covered conic sections, exponential functions, and simplifying polynomials. The student and I worked the most with deciding which terms to combine when simplifying polynomials."
"The student has a final exam in pre-calc this month. We went over some practice problems and covered calculations involving angle sum and double-angle formulas for trigonometry."
