"-Covered homework management and discussed some Language Arts and grammar work that student was struggling with. -I did not see any scores/grades as the student did not have any with him."
"Student 1: She and I reviewed her math homework on place value, and she did all of her vocabulary exercises. She had no problem with the math and was able to explain all of what she was doing to me. We did three different exercises with the vocab words: I gave her a quiz, we scrambled and unscrambled them, and she wrote them down using different colors for vowels and consonants. She does a great job organizing the words, and likes to put them in different columns depending on the sounds in the words. This week we had words like big, jig, fig, and then words like cup, bun, and jub, so she put these in different columns. Lastly, we read through one of her books-she did an excellent job reading and only tripped up on a few words. Student 2: He and I worked on more US geography this week, as he needed to refresh on some state capitals and also placing states on the map. I worked with him to make a new set of flashcards with all the states and capitals spelled correctly, and also had him fill out three maps of the Midwest, sometimes labeling just the states, sometimes just the capitals, and sometimes both together. We went through the flashcards in both directions, and he is doing very well remembering both states to capitals, and vice versa. By the end, his spelling had also improved."
"The student worked on a writing assignment about communism and the beginning of the Cold War. He had to respond to each question in a complete paragraph. After he read the material, I had him jot down the specifics he wanted to mention before he began writing. When he plans before he writes, his ideas clarify and his writing becomes much stronger. We identified what details are important, and how to structure a logical paragraph. He is very interested in history, and I think that helps his writing as well."
