Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session we went over some specific questions the student had about a few practice problems she tried earlier today. After these we talked about the data interpretation section of the test. We discussed several strategies including the need to pay attention to detail, units of the figures and percent change. I also emphasized the need to look back over these questions afterwards, as there are many pitfalls that people often forget. I will send her some additional practice materials regarding these types of questions, but I think she did well on them and will do well on the exam if she can remember to be methodical."
"We began our final session today by reviewing the five essays the student wrote for homework this weekend. I saw real improvement from the first to the last one, and we discussed smaller points (including capitalization and transitional words) that could further improve her writing. We spent the second hour of the session working on coordinate geometry (specifically, equation of a line and slope problems) and then on critical reading passages. The student is in much better shape for Wednesday's test, and I'm excited to see how well she does!"
"The student and I first went over a few math practice problems from the homework. Afterwards, we went over the verbal portion of the test, focusing on the reading comprehension. We also practiced reading comprehension, and I agreed to find her some extra reading passages for extra practice."
