Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We began the session by working on some Quantitative Reasoning practice problems. We reviewed definitions of mean, median, and mode, as well as how to calculate the mean. We also reviewed working with fractions and finding common denominators and when to do so, as well as going from improper fractions to mixed numbers. We then did some work with multiplying decimals. We ended the session by brainstorming on/outlining his essay topics."
"The student and I worked on a number of areas in this session. We reviewed our strategies for fill in the blank questions and took a 32 question practice section. We went over the answers and found ways to improve our odds of guessing words we do not know. In math the student and I worked on fractions. We went over the ways to convert to an improper fraction from a mixed number. I left the family with a guide on what to focus on next."
"The student and I finished going over all of the mathematics material. He also took a diagnostic test for the second time to see how he has progressed thus far. I was very pleased to see how much he has improved. He doubled his percentile, from 35th to 70th, and completed a more difficult test in 5 less minutes. Within the next month, I'm very confident that he will be able to jump into the 85th and up percentile. The next step is to get him used to answering questions quicker under standardized test-type conditions."
