Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During our session, the student and I completed a worksheet / homework assignment covering simplifying equations involving imaginary expressions. She did very well during our session. We will meet again next Sunday."
"Our goal for this week is to have the student ready for the test on polynomials by end of the week. We again worked on the exponent operation rules: product of power, power of power, zero power, negative power, and etc. We also started working on polynomial multiplications. I left her with practice questions for last night and I am going to send her more."
"The student is beginning to learn how to construct equations from graphs and data points. We went through the homework and did additional problems from his math workbook. She is starting to multiple and divide fractions. In addition to the homework, we explored some future concepts regarding the division of fractions."
"We practiced today's lesson from the practice book. We worked on word problems where the student had to find a pattern and then solve for the answer. This type of question needs to be answered in 2 sentences and fully explained in order to get full credit. He practiced answering the questions, and then we added in what he really needs to write in order to improve his score. I set him up with an account on a math site to practice his math skills that he is learning in school."
"This was our first meeting. We spent some time getting to know each other. The student told me what topics she and her class have covered so far and identified multiplication/division as the easiest. We agreed to look at her homework in the next session and that I would bring material for us to work on. We also played the game "Set," which I supplied, to identify patterns. She had a lot of fun, and I will bring different math games in future sessions. I am really looking forward to our next session. Our goals are to make Math more fun for her, and I think we are well on our way!"
"We reviewed the student's homework of "guess and check." We then switched to working on place value and subtracting."
