Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"During this session, we discussed the immune system as well as the digestive system. This included the anatomy as well as the physiology of the different organs, tissues, and cells. The student is doing great with the material and continues to progress. I told her to make note cards to help with vocab and concepts. Scores from lab and assignments indicate that she is doing well!"
"Today the student and I covered the anatomy of the endocrine organs such as the thyroid gland, the parathyroid, the ovaries and the testes, and we also covered the anatomy of the heart and the different white blood cells. I also tested the student on his knowledge of the endocrine system. Overall the session was successful and I believe he will do well on his exam."
"Today we covered the lecture on peripheral nervous system. We went over all the different cranial nerves and also talked about the different plexuses. There is a lot of information in this chapter and memorizing is the challenging part. He was interested in the topic and asked clinically relevant questions. I shared a couple of mnemonics to help memorize the CNs and the brachial plexus. He mentioned that his overall grade came down because the practical part of the exam was tough. He mentioned that he did okay on the multiple choice part. Overall, he still has a B in the class. My goal is to help him get a good grade on his quiz on Monday."
"We went over AP free response questions about Gauss's law - after going over how to determine the enclosed charge for a non-uniform distribution together, he was able to complete two problems almost entirely on his own. He is doing very well with the material."
"Today the student and I reviewed for his upcoming exam on enthalpy and calorimetry. Specifically we spent most of our time reviewing heat capacity and heat of reaction in a calorimeter, as these were what confused him the most. After working some problems together he seemed to have a much better understanding and was able to work through some problems on his own. Then we did some practice with Hess's law, which he seemed very comfortable with. Overall a very successful session."
"In this session, we covered regulation of replication, mechanisms of pre-replication complex assembly and initiation of DNA synthesis, regulation of chromosomes separation in mitosis, and checkpoint control during cell cycle transitions. In the same session, we covered the basics of apoptosis, including its function, mechanisms, and regulation. The student expressed a deep interest in the topic, as well as a great understanding of the material. Her knowledge in the basics of cell biology has very significantly improved since our first session. She is easily answering my questions and has sufficient knowledge to proceed with the material."
